A new version of Fast Video Cataloger is now available for download. The new version includes a new video file organizer that is better integrated with the rest of the program and helps you keep your video files organized.

"We have changed the visual look of the program to be more in line with other quality graphics software. If you are used to programs like Photoshop, 3D studio or Unity you feel at home with Fast Video Cataloger 3. The interface can still be configured to your liking across one or several computer monitors. Focus has been to provide the most efficient user interface possible.
We have added an icon view mode for your video list. This new icon view mode is great to get an overview of all your videos in a catalog and only need the titles and the images.
Player window is redesigned. You can save specific video frames as jpeg images. You can also change playback speed for most video files and do fast and slow seeks.
The new burst capture function let you add lots more details for interesting sections of a video with one click.
The companion image feature has been extended to include actor companions either specific images or folders that are automatically added.
Actions can now be user defined to better integrate Fast video cataloger with other programs or use of web pages.
More than 200 minor bug fixes and improvements to workflows."

Fast video cataloger is a program that helps you browse, search and find your videos quickly. The program lets you arrange all your videos with automatic batched thumbnailing. You can then categorise videos and assign keywords to whole videos as well as individual scenes. 

This major new version has focused on improving workflow for the most common tasks, like adding and tagging videos as well as a number of other minor adjustments. 

The program now includes an integrated file manager that helps you arrange your video files while keeping your catalogs up to date. 

Another big improvement to this version is that the program  has support for companion images. Companion images are for example cover images from the video, behind the scene shots or just any image related to the video. 

The final big improvement is a new group of tools to repair and maintain catalogs.

The video program has been updated with a new user interface that you can customize. Most windows are now docked so you can create a layout to suit how you are working with your videos, and you can use more than one window for the layout.

Another big improvement is that the trial version now also works as a reader program. You can download the trial version and test it to create your catalogs. After the trial period you can still use the software to view catalogs that you created earlier or that you got from other users. This is great news if you own the program and want to share your catalogs.

Fast video cataloger is now available in a new version (1.20). In this version the user interface has been changed to look more like Adobe Lightroom and to flow from the left to the right. This change not only makes the user interface more intuitive but it makes it possible to edit video properties and tags at the same time as you view the video thumbnail images.
The biggest improvement however is the support for tagging individual video frames in a video and to search your entire video catalog after tagged scenes.
This improvement makes it really easy to search individual scenes across different videos files. No need to split the actual video files or doing other time consuming video processing just to be able to organise your videos better. How to create GIF files from your video clips

The world wide web just turned 20. Even older than the www is the GIF file format. The format is flawed in many ways, its limited to 256 colours. The compression isn't very good and it used to be patented. Now the patent has expired and even if the format has some flaws there are still situations when gif is the right format to use.

The two huge advantages of the GIF format is that it supports animations and that it is supported by all versions of all web browsers. Since no plugins or special codecs are required to play the GIF they just simply work. And even if a gif might be a bit larger than for example a short flash file the load time is often offset by the time it takes to load and initialize the flash player.

You can use GIF files where no other format works.

I created a simple tool to convert a video clip to a GIF file including converting it to 256 colours and resizing it. You can also add single images or create the animation from single files.
